Government Auctions: Online Resources
By
Government auctions are a great way to pick up real estate, cars and even small things like books and souvenirs. Buying new, surplus or seized goods from the government is a great way to save money on your next big purchase. Though many types of merchandise are for sale at government auctions, there are some items that can only be purchased through public auction, contract with a real estate agent or via sealed bid.
You can buy cars, SUVs, boats and airplanes from the government though both offline and online auctions. These auctions consist of sealed bid, live auctions, fixed price, negotiated price and drop-by sales. For a list of government auctions of seized and surplus cars and other vehicles, take a look at the FirstGov.gov website (http://www.firstgov.gov/shopping/cars/cars.shtml).
Real estate that the United States government has seized and doesn't need are auctioned off to the general public through various means including public auction and other avenues. The types of real estate involved include investment properties, commercial buildings, land, multi-family and single family dwellings, condos, farms, mobile homes, ranches and agricultural properties. Visit the FirstGov.com real estate government auctions page at http://www.firstgov.gov/shopping/realestate/realestate.shtml.
